Container Transport

Latin Transport has been a leading transport company in Melbourne for over ten years. We provide a complete range of transport and logistic solutions for our customers.

We transport 10, 20 and 40-foot containers within the Melbourne metropolitan area. We have state-of-the-art container transport which allows for the safe and reliable transportation of your containers. Our specialisation when it comes to shipping container transport is to have our trailers arrive ready and on time at the docking facility so we can deliver your freight reliably and on time to its destination.

There are three different times when you need container transport –

  1. Outbound – delivering containers to a port / rail yard

  2. Inbound – collecting containers from a port / rail yard

  3. Transfer – taking containers from your factory / warehouse to another factory / warehouse

For an outbound container transfer, you need to provide a forklift or crane capable of loading the containers at your factory / warehouse. Please let us know if you would like us to organise a crane or forklift for your container transfer. The most cost effective trailer in this situation is a flat top or skel trailer.

For an inbound transfer, containers will be loaded at the dock / rail yard by specialty container loading equipment so you can use any trailer depending on the facilities at your factory / warehouse. If you have a forklift or crane capable of unloading the containers from the trailer, the most cost effective trailer is a flat top or skel trailer. Otherwise, we recommend using a tilt tray trailer or a sideloader.

Depending on the size of the containers to be transported, there are different styles of trailers and loading methods. For 10 and 20-foot containers, the most suitable trailer is a tilt tray trailer which will unload by tipping the tray and sliding the containers off the rear of the trailer. This trailer requires a clearance of at least 3.9 metres high, 3 metres wide and 25 metres in length so the trailer can be driven away. For 40-foot containers, the most optimum trailer is a sideloader as the container is dropped off the trailer to the driver’s side. A sideloader can also be used for 20-foot containers.

We can also provide container transport solutions for more complex placements. We have crane trucks which can move all size containers to and from any location.
